Located
to the northeast of the International Center
and considered one of the most traditional
parks in the city; inaugurated in 1910 to
celebrate the first one hundred years of
Colombian independence. Well known Light
Pavilion or Kiosk, beautiful neoclassic
architectural works by Italian architect
Pietro Cantini.
Clearly contemplative vocation, rather mildly
sloped land covered by grass and luxuriant
eucalyptus forests greatly liveling urban
environment. District Planetarium, located
on the north end, is integrated through
the pedestrian bridge to the Modern Art
Museum creating a harmonious complex. |

The park is characterized by strategic location
a few blocks away from the International
Center. The mirror and the water thread
promote passive recreation activities. Man
on Horseback sculpture by Fernando Botero
outstands. Covered room for cultural events,
abundant native species arborization, furniture,
illumination, rest rooms and cafeteria.

Park surface covers 70,000 m2 of which 20.000
m2 are used for green areas. Each of the
complex buildings is fully brick built and
includes several multi-family blocks, office
towers, restaurants and stores. Includes
several plazas such as the Art Plaza, the
Café Plaza, foods and Romerones Park,
the central complex space. The Park lodges
exclusive restaurants and stores, internal
vehicle streets, pedestrian promenade heading
east west, a water cascade. Ornamentation
completed with threes, plants and gardens
also providing large parking lots.

Covers 283 hectares at heights between 2,600
and 3,154 meters. The western area concentrates
historical, cultural and recreational values;
the Park children theatre, football. Micro-football,
tennis, volleyball, and basketball an hockey
courts.
Eastern sector between Circunvalar Avenue
and eastern hills contains great flora and
fauna biodiversity abundant water sources
and generous arborization basically eucalyptus,
acacias, urapanes and cypress trees prevailing.
