Bibliographic wealth of Colombia (incunabular,
prints, sound recordings and audio-visual
work of great historical and artistic
value), located in the southeast corner
of Independence Park. Founded January
9, 1777, inaugurated in 1938 and remodeled
in 1978 by architect Jacques Mosseri,
except decorative elements and façade
design remained the same.
The two statues on both sides of calle
25 access, high relief at the attic, sign

de la República Luis Ángel
Arango Library is the most important cultural
complex of the country and one of the
most modern in Latin America offering
the public 44,000 m2 construction fully
equipped for all culture fields study,
research and approach. Provides services
such as consultation on line and in the
rooms, inter-library loans, researchers
support, specialized information quest
and processing, CD-ROM consultation, Internet
communication and reprography.
The Library holds 900,000 volumes. Luis
López de Mesa Hemerotheca facilitates
newspapers, domestic and foreign magazines
consultation, reference material and access
to special collection, map collection
and microfilmed material. The architectural
complex includes auditoriums and transient/permanent
exhibition room, such as Colombian musical
instruments.
The Library has ten specialized rooms
by knowledge area; Music, Geography, Social
Sciences, Economy, Arts and Humanities,
Audiovisuals, Constitutional, Rare Books
and Manuscripts, Science and Technology,
and holds global annual consultation record.
Concert Room: Modern auditorium sitting
367 spectators provides an organ integrated
into the structure and acoustic system
layout position the room among the best
of Latin America. The room periodically
features many prestigious chamber and
soloist groups from the country and the
entire world.

El
Tintal Public Library is located in the
plot formerly occupied by EDIS waste transfer
plant. The area of influence covers Bosa,
Kennedy and Fontibón localities
providing nearly 1,400,000 users services.
The Library holds a collection of 200,000
volumes. Constructed area covers 6,790
m2 and has the following units: reading
rooms, Hemerotheca, Reference room, Children
room, Cultural center, Auditorium, Exhibition
rooms and Bogotá information, Library,
Cafeteria and commercial stores for uses
associated to the Library.
The first floor houses a gallery ending
on one side on the auditorium and on the
other side the children room extending
to the outside for activities developed
in the park.

This
Library architectural design is the work
of architect Rogelio Salmona, and the
construction firm was District Libraries
Consortium, formed by Conconcreto S.A.
and Cusezar S.A. Located near Virgilio
Barco Cultural Center, between 63 avenue
and carrera 48 and current North Railroads
rails. Library areas of influence are
Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Teusaquillo
and Puente Aranda localities, providing
services to estimated 710,000 users.
The Library has a series of specialized
rooms: Bogotá Room, Multiple Room,
Reading room for adults, the most important
part of the building; reference, specialized
information, Hemerotheca, work, reading
and music rooms crucibles for researchers
and books loan area. The children room
enjoys excellent illumination and responds
to children between 6 and 12 years needs
and activities. The room opens towards
outdoor playground and has a stair room
for theatre shows, recitals and group
reading.
Auditorium capacity for 350 people and
equipped for movies, videos and slides
projection. Also provides excellent cafeteria
and libraries service.

Located in calle of the Coliseum. Has
a cabinet-shaped balcony in the corner,
as used in the XIX century, and symmetrical
façade on both streets making it
easy to find. Pombo house has a central
patio and gallery on the four second floor
walls. In the first floor a gallery to
the east side marked by double half point
arch supporting a stone column. Access
to the house used to be through a central
alley opening on the central patio. Current
Rafael Pombo foundation home providing
child library (recreational reading) services,
workshops and teatrino.
