The block was declared of
public interests in 1968 and fitted by demolishing buildings built on the
square, three perimeter streets and complementary works were completed in
1974. East and west sides keep traditional cafés built in the 30s,
such as Café Pasaje or Cafetería Romana.
In the center of the square a pedestal forming a star and supporting the
founder of Bogotá, Don Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada statue.
On the south side Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
