This building was promoted
by Governor Rafael Escallón administration. Built on land formerly
occupied by San Francisco convent, demolished around 1917 to give way to
the new building. Design and construction was the work of architects Arturo
Jaramillo and Gastón Lelarge. The building, finished in 1933, was
set on fire April 9, 1948; reconstruction fully respected original design.
Currently one of Rosario University homes.
The palace of the same name until not long ago Governor Cundinamarca offices,
is an important square plant building and neoclassic style with two patios
on both sides of the main stairs ventilating corridors providing light to
the various offices; main façade over Jimenez Avenue is divided into
three bodies. The center block deserves special attention since it has adjunct
a couple of broken timpani with greatly sculptured human bodies.
